Guy's Shopping Tip #47: Make You Own Boxed Sets

Black Friday 4 Guy's Kevin Lockett talks about making your own music and DVD box sets for little cost. Check me out at www.bfguys.com, www.blackfriday4guys.com, www.kevinlockett.com, @kevinlockett

Let's say you have someone if your life who loves Jay-Z or Kenny Chesney.

You  figured it would be nice to buy a boxed set of all of their albums, but either due to cost is too much or maybe the artist  only has a greatest hits, you can't find the boxed set?

Build your own.

In my area, we have a place called "The Exchange", where they sell used Cd's, videos, albums, etc. Usually these used Cd's varies in price from $1, $2.50, $5.00 and up.

If you are a bit low on cash this holiday, find this kind of store in area and start putting together your own boxed set.  If you can put the whole set together, they'll be great, but most likely, you might not find all their albums used at the same. You might have to go to another store, check on EBAY and/or Amazon to find the rest.

You can also do box set part one for Christmas and find the rest of the Cd's or albums later for their birthday for boxed set part two.

However, before you start buying music, make sure the person still uses Cd's or vinyl. The last thing you want to do is build a great box set of Right Said Fred, only to find out the person either buys everything on iTunes or already has that particular boxed set.

Question: Who's your favorite artist? Have you ever bought a boxed set? How much did it cost?

Guy's Shopping Tip # 186: Know The Return Policy

Black Friday 4 Guy's Kevin Lockett talks about knowing the return policies before you buy your gift.
Check me out at www.bfguys.com. blackfriday4guys.com, @kevinlockett, www.kevinlockett.com

Recently I was in Best Buy returning an unopened electronic item; the woman in front of me was returning an electronic item, but it was open.

The clerk told the woman that she was going to get store credit for her item. She asked why and the clerk said because the item was open.

I got a full refund for my unopened item.

Although the woman didn't seem too upset, if this was holiday season, it might have been ugly.

Before you pay for anything, always ask the clerk what the return policy is for your item or at least look at your receipt and ask the following questions:

How long do you have to return it.

Is there a restocking fee, where you get most of your refund but not all.

What is the policy if the item is open.

Asking these questions and more, can save you a lot of headaches if you get another that Bill Cosby like from the 80's.

Question: What other questions should you ask when it comes to return policies?

I am the Jack Bauer of Black Friday

In less than 30 days, the holiday season will officially begin with Black Friday on the day after Thanksgiving.

The goal of Black Friday 4 Guys is to help my boys get off the couch and find the right gifts for the ones they love.

So just like 24's Jack Bauer, I'm going to do everything I can to accomplish this mission, (but there won't be any severed heads....maybe)

This blog will be very interactive, so if you have any suggestions, let us know.
